Junior Program
History Here is an opportunity for little green thumbs to get their hands dirty.
If you have a budding gardener, between the ages of 6 and 9,
sign them up for the Junior Gardening program for 2009.
The children will:
Grow vegetables and flowers in their individual gardens
Be supplied with all plants, tools and a journal for weekly
record-keeping
Learn about gardening, plants, insects, birds and
the life cycle of the monarch butterfly
Have fun making garden-related crafts
Create their own flower arrangements and
participate in an annual horticultural show.
The program runs for one hour weekly, from late April to September. The Oakville Horticultural Society's Junior Teaching Garden is located at 1100 Cornwall Road, behind the Oakville Municipal Greenhouse.
Each child requires a parent/guardian to accompany them, participating in the classes. A nominal fee is charged. Sponsorships are available.
